On Saturday, May 27, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport participated in Doors Open Toronto 2023. This was the first time the airport had hosted the event since 2019, and it was a resounding success. Over 15,000 people visited to get a behind the scenes access to the airport.
Nieuport participated in Doors Open supporting many activations. Here are some of the event highlights.
Amongst the numerous airport vehicles on display, from the firetrucks to the snow ploughs, was the Nieuport shuttle bus. Visitors could go aboard the bus and check out its interior and also learn about the bus through the ‘fun facts’ board placed outside the bus.

The St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program is a volunteer-based program and is offered at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport as a partnership with Nieuport Aviation.
Therapy dogs provide comfort and companionship to passengers on a weekly basis at YTZ.
Our furry friends, Pablo, Oakley and Fynn, met attendees at Doors Open with much glee!
Technology helps us keep all the moving pieces at an airport...moving. Whether its you, your bags, the planes or the staff that make the airport experience amazing, technology makes your experience easier.
The Nieuport and Go Green team were able to showcase two programs that we use at the airport: SITA Airport Management System (AMS) and XOVIS, a passenger flow management system.
Whose.land is a website and mobile app that uses Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to assist users in identifying and learning more about Indigenous Nations, territories, treaties, and Indigenous communities across Canada.
At Doors Open, attendees were able to see how this website works through an interactive demonstration.
'Music on the Fly' is a program supported by the City of Toronto and ArtHaus. The program was created to provide local music talents with an opportunity to perform in front of YTZ passengers, staff and the community. It was launched at Doors Open, and saw incredible performances from:

BeeClean is an incredible airport partner, keeping our terminal spotless all year round! The hardworking team work night and day to keep the airport clean, and make the experience at Billy Bishop, an exceptional one.
At Doors Open, they gave away bright yellow cleaning clothes, to help the public with their cleaning needs. They were a great Nieuport neighbour, as we gave away seed cards, that when planted would render wildflowers!
These initiatives support Nieuport’s motto of a cleaner, greener and quieter airport!
Hudson is a key commercial airport partner. They have stores in both the domestic and transborder lounges, selling all types of duty-free products.
Attending Doors Open were two of Hudson’s local partners: Comeback Snacks and Duff’s Jerky
Each of the partners provided delicious snacks for the public to try!
Hudson was also promoting their loyalty program, RED, that provides users with purchasing discounts when traveling.
SSP provide catering amenities to both lounges through Market 416, Obispo and Balzacs.
Attending Doors Open, SSP staff were able to connect with the public and promote their services.
