Our Company

Nieuport Aviation owns and operates the passenger terminal at the award-winning Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Backed by significant international expertise in managing aviation infrastructure, we are committed to world-class customer service for the airport’s 2.8 million passengers.

In addition to managing the terminal, Nieuport Aviation offers passengers a free bus shuttle service between the airport and downtown Toronto, helping to provide a seamless travel experience. Nieuport Aviation works closely with PortsToronto, the owner and operator of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, and the airport’s other stakeholders to deliver an exceptional passenger experience.

Our Terminal

The passenger terminal at Billy Bishop Toronto City airport was constructed in 2010, and today now features comfortable lounges for all domestic and international passengers and offering unparalleled views of Toronto’s unique and striking city skyline.

Nieuport Aviation has invested in a massive terminal upgrade to accommodate the 2.8 million passengers now choosing the airport every year, which is up from 1.5 million in 2010. Specifically, we have added more than 12,000 square feet in newly designed lounges with modern and contemporary décor, as well as more comfortable seating and improved business stations for an exceptional traveller experience.

We also now offer new high-quality and locally inspired food, beverage and shopping options for passengers.

These upgrades and other improvements, including reconfiguring the terminal to accommodate the anticipated new U.S. preclearance facility, represent an important long-term investment in Toronto’s essential transportation infrastructure.

Now available at Billy Bishop Airport are restaurants and retail stores in the passenger lounges with enormous selection. The restaurant menus feature great, local flavours for dining in or grab-and-go, and stores carry popular Canadian products for everyone. Passengers will be sure to experience the familiar feeling of friendliness, customer service and hospitality – all with a promise of so many new options!

Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport

Located on Toronto Island just minutes away from downtown Toronto, Billy Bishop Airport is the 9th busiest airport in Canada serving 2.8 million business and leisure passengers annually.  It is critical transportation infrastructure for Toronto, the third-largest city in Canada and the United States, and contributes significantly to the local economy, generating more than $2.1 billion in total economic output and supporting 4,450 jobs, including 2,080 directly associated with the airport’s operations. A 2021 analysis by York Aviation has shown that with additional investments, such as the construction of a US Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) Pre-Clearance facility, the airport has potential to contribute $4.8 billion in GDP annually by 2025 (an increase of $2.7 billion in GDP pre-COVID). Billy Bishop Airport is conveniently connected to Toronto’s land side by a pedestrian tunnel under Lake Ontario for quick and easy passenger access, in addition to a ferry connection for passengers and vehicles.

Billy Bishop Airport earns international accolades year after year for the outstanding service, safety and convenience it delivers to passengers in addition to environmental awards including an award-winning noise management program.

Billy Bishop Airport was named in 2018 as one of North America’s top regional airports by Skytrax Airport Awards and in Airports Council International’s (ACI) Airport Service Quality Awards. In 2017, the airport was was named one of the best airports in the world in the Conde Nast Traveler 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards, the premier international travel industry awards voted on by more than 300,000 travellers around the world, ranking sixth in a Top 10 list of global airports and the only Canadian airport to be selected in the category. In 2023, the airport received an honourable mention from Airports Going Green for its efforts to ensure sustainable options for airport access, from the 100% electric Marilyn Bell ferry to Nieuport Aviation's forthcoming fleet of electric buses.
